BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Cuba Conferences and Cultural Tours is made up of consultants with a difference.  Bonnie Eccles and Lisa Makarchuk, both retired teachers and alumni of the University of Toronto, have decades of travel experience and now specialize in conferences, colloquiums, seminars, courses and cultural tours to Cuba. Bonnie has travelled around the world and has over 20 years of experience with various travel agencies in planning trips to different parts of the world. Lisa has spent a total of six years in Cuba, two of them as Honorary Consul for Canada in Varadero, and has established contacts which are valuable in answering the needs of special interest groups travelling to Cuba.  In addition to her experience in secondary and elementary schools, she has also taught law and legal procedures at the Shaw Business Colleges.

Information on conferences and courses available in the legal field, health and social sciences, and events and fairs make it possible to plan your vacation to attend any of the above, sometimes making your trip tax deductible and, at the same time, enjoying Cuba beyond the beaches.  Canadian lawyers and legal personnel in general, doctors and others involved in health care are taking advantage of upgrading their skills and knowledge through attending various conferences and events available in Havana and other parts of Cuba.  Glowing reports on stays in Cuba are common and travellers may be pleasantly surprised at the level of professionalism they encounter.

If you would like to hold your conference, meeting or seminar in  Cuba, Bonnie and Lisa will help you organize it providing you with information on  modern facilities and translating services at an economical cost carried out in a friendly, professional manner – mainly in Havana and Varadero.

Winter snowbirds now have an alternative to Florida.  Canadians may now stay in Cuba for up to six month long stays. Delightful beachfront air-conditioned homes and one or two-bedroom apartments are available at Tarara and in other beachfront areas east of Havana. Facilities are excellent with competitive prices and services including the Internet.

If you prefer an anti-stress or spa experience or require health care in areas of lifestyle change, weight loss, neurological restoration, or arthritis, Cuba’s forward-looking health system is able to provide the best of care.  You may also take advantage of alternative medicines, such as policosanol (PPG) as a cholesterol-lowering drug, the study of which is an integral part of its medical programmes.

Over 250,000 Canadians cannot be wrong: last year that is how many visited Cuba and Canada remains as one of its major trading partners.  Its historical architecture, unspoiled beaches and its warm, hospitable people beckon travelers in a siren song of new and delightful experiences.

Bonnie, while specializing in  addressing your interests and travel needs in Cuba, is also available to help you wherever you may be travelling this year. Get in touch by calling (416) 695-8888,
